3 Natural Green Cleaning Tips to Save You Time

3 Easy and Natural Green Cleaning Tips

Cleaning can be time consuming but there are lots of ways to cut corners. Of course, if you can afford it hiring help is certainly one option. Admittedly, I hire help once a week – no lie about and it is my saving grace. I work so many hours and travel often for work that the extra help literally keeps me sane! This isn’t an option for everyone and it’s not something I could always afford to do or justify when I was not working. Regardless, I still clean and do laundry, vacuum, scrub the toilet and we’ll everything else that comes with keeping a home and over the last 10 years of being a mom and wife I’ve learned a thing or two.

Here are 3 easy house cleaning tips that don’t cost money and they might actually save you time:

  • Freeze vinegar and lemon wedges in an ice cube tray to clean your garbage disposal. Once a week I throw a few of these ice cubes
into the garbage disposal, sprinkle some baking soda, run the hot water and garbage disposal and voila I have a fresh smelling sink!
  • When it’s time to polish the wood work I take a small dab of coconut oil and rub it into an old sock. A little goes a long ways! I can make the wood furniture or stair case banner shine and the house will smell good too!
  • When I’ve accidently burned a pan cooking (it happens every once in a while but very rarely) or have stubborn food stuck to the bottom of a pot, I simply add water and dish soap and boil. The leftover food or stubborn stuck on burn marks lift right off!

What tips do you have for saving money, cleaning the house and cutting corners to make life easier when it comes to housekeeping?

My new favorite product is Tea Tree Oil. Put a few drops in a spray bottle with water. I spray it all over my boys’ nasty hockey pads, gloves, helmet and in their skates. Leaves it smelling fresh and kills the bacteria from all of their sweat!

Love the frozen lemon garbage disposal tip. We have consistently had problems with issues like this, and because of the fact that we use a greywater system, we don’t put much down there. We definitely don’t want ANY cleaning chemicals making it down the drain, so this is ideal. Thanks again for the tip.
