This year I started taking baby steps towards going green. So I guess I'd fall into the Sprout category (though I'm more of a yellow sprout than a green sprout, but I'm trying). Its been interesting to watch my husband catch on be more conscious of what he's using, throwing away and reusing. By taking these first steps, its also made me aware of the people I interact with daily and what their attitudes are towards doing things with the environment in mind. I'd say about 1/3 of the people at my company would be Sprouts, with maybe a handful that true greenback-greens, and maybe only one or two that could honestly say they're true-blue greens. The rest really don't care, or don't have the time to care. But I do agree, that's changing. And as more of the big brand name companies start offering truly greener options, more people will start caring, because the whole process will be made easier for them (they won't have to hunt for products or do the research if they can just grab it off the supermarket shelves...). Like any big societal change, it takes time and the change will be more gradual than an overnight thing. But I think its a change that will indeed happen in teh coming years.

Those stats are alarming to me as well. I guess I live in my (Berkeley) bubble and forget where a lot of other people are coming from. I know I'm not the poster child of "green" but at least I am moving in the right direction.
