We can't deny that opting for bottled water is cheaper, plus they are readily available. But it seems like for every advantage, there is a heavier disadvantage to it. It's hard to break the habit of buying bottled water. But sometimes, sadly, we have no choice but to do it. :(

Hi thanks for that thought provoking post. Yes, sometimes we never stop to think why we do the things we do. What is the motivation behind some of the seemingly unconscious habits that we have. Its good to look into these things and analyze how healthy they are and what purpose they serve. Very nice points you got there.

Your post really makes us think.

Thanks for commenting Rebecca. I don't like to buy the water for the same reason as you but like Carla, I'm guilty of it sometimes.

I am guilty for buying that occasional bottle of water when I'm out, ran out of water I brought from home, thirsty, not feeling well and cant found a fountain near by. I don't buy because I think its safer though, nor do I do it all the time. My s/o has distilled water delivered to us because he feels that it is better to drink but that's a whole 'nother can of worms. At least its those large 5 gallon jugs that gets reused over and over and not something that would go to waste.

I keep a case of bottled water in my trunk and in our "earthquake kit" for emergencies.

I've always avoided bottled water because I am cheap, but I had mixed feelings about it because I'd heard it was much better for you than tap water. I felt sort of validated when I found out that this wasn't really the case.

If the taste of tap water is causing people to buy bottled water, and a filter doesn't do the trick, another idea is to squeeze a lemon into the water. Or make it into iced tea!
