At my niece’s kindergarten they actually made a huge tree (it was so big you could walk inside it) made out of old milk cartons. It was painted and looked really cool.

But then again all the kids in the entire school had helped to gather the needed well-rinsed milk cartons. So for private use the Calafant alternative is certainly more practical.
