My son was born without drugs at a freestanding birth center (not in a hospital), with a CNM in attendance. it was an amazing experience. Sort of half way between homebirth and hospital, but a little closer to home.

We are expecting again in July, and are planning a home bith this time. I am SO excited. The birth center was amazing, but while I was in labor with my son, I found myself wishing I didn't have to pack a bag and drive somewhere while in labor. My husband and I both wished we could have just finished everything there in the bedroom.

I have an awesome midwife, and I can't wait for this birth experience. YAY Home Birth!!!!

These are great questions. My husband and I had our first child at home last May, and it was an amazing experience. Although I was in labor for 45 hours, I felt safe and secure the whole time, as I was in our home, with my husband and our midwives (and our dog, who kept checking to make sure I was ok). If we decide to have another baby, we'll have another homebirth.
