As a past preschool teacher I always LOVED teaching about Earth Day and celebrating this special day with a week long theme. It was so fun to have the children make recycled craft projects, pick trash up in a local park, visit the recycling station and experiment with natural products like baking soda and vinegar. It wasn’t always so easy to find books for preschool aged students but with green being so popular it has gotten a little easier. This week I’ve recommended some great stories to read to young children. Think Green, My Mom Hugs Trees and in the past I’ve reviewed William Goes Green and The Green Eaters. If you’ve taught preschool you know that four books won’t cut it. You have to pile the book shelf with earth friendly books and you most likely have a few circle times.
Yes, a preschool teacher needs more than just four books and probably some eco-friendly activities to accompany these books. I want to be able to provide the preschool teacher, home schooling parent and green mom with an arsenal of resources to really embrace Earth Day this April.
