Garbage Disposal Go Green

Menu Planning Resource Pack

Use your garbage disposal! It is more earth friendly then allowing the waste to sit in a plastic garbage bag, where it will decompose more slowly. When using a garbage disposal you are allowing organic waste to be sent into the sewer lines, where it will be digested back into nature. Organic waste is turned into fertilizer, after being treated by your community’s sanitary district.

The greenest option is to compost left over food and waste! For those of you with your own septic this might be a good idea, seeing that there are some that say garbage disposal waste can cause back-ups. Frankly, I’ve never had this problem and we have always had our own septic.

For a organic garbage disposal check out, Mother Earth News, for this DIY project!

    Hi,
That’s very true. The top choice is composting your leftovers. And i would have said that up until recently, a garbage disposal could only handle certain foods. But today, there is an entirely new generation that really liquify just about all food scraps. So either compost or dispose.
If you want to find out about the best and most effective disposers available today, you can find some info here about garbage disposal reviews.
