Sommer, I so need the reminder. Attitude and openness are so important. Trust people, question institutions and companies? Sorry, BPA fresh on my mind...

Sommer, this is a great post, and I wanted to echo the bravo from all the other women who have commented.
I love hearing about the individual journeys that we are all on, and learning from the heartaches and triumphs. This is what makes blogging fun and worth reading!

Very eloquent post Sommer! It is funny - I did what Steve Covey suggests with the other green moms - gave them my trust without earning - but don't do that with my husband for some of the stuff with the kids. Several times, I've had to stop myself from intervening to tell him to do it the "right way" (my way), and let him do it his way, trusting him to get whatever it is done, even if it is by a different path. Yet, when it comes to the green moms and moms of Earth, I gave over my trust - and opened myself to so many wonderful, intelligent, compassionate, fantastic women. Which only goes to show you that stuff comes together faster if we do trust and listen.

I'm also going to keep trying to listen - to the Earth and nature, to my children, to other voices - without multi-tasking. Which means cutting back on twittering!

The blogosphere has proven to me without question that people are basically good (not evil) and that if you put your heart out there, others will respond in kindness. With plunging stock markets and global unrest, we forget that simple exchange of expectations. Thank you for the reminder.

Sommer,

This is a wonderful post and show how vulnerable we are to trusting people. I do believe that if more people really listened to other, instead of patting themselves on the back or their own agenda, we could work better together. I think you have to be a good listeners to be trusted because you have taken the time to value what someone else has to say.

Nothing upsets me more than to be ignored. So, I can imagine what others are feeling as well. Thanks for the reminder.

What a beautifully written post. Thank you for the little reminders, especially about really listening to our kids and showing appreciation to our husbands.
I am glad that I discovered your blog; I have really been enjoying it.
