I hate this new legislation, my kids are just getting to the age of these great wooden toys and now they will be extinct.

I love the playdoh, I make it at home and use whatever "color" I have in the fridge. I haven't figured out how to make it smell good though- maybe essential oils??

I don't have human children, yet, but I hope to be able to buy handmade toys for them when I finally do have them. I recently fell in love with the whimsical wooden toys by Wood Mouse on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5342617). I'm tempted to buy some now, just for me to enjoy. And with this whole CPSIA problem, maybe I'll just stock up now in anticipation of future little ones. Its a real shame. I think imported products should be regulated, definitely. And same for big business. But for the small handmade side, there should be a different set of regulations, something more friendly to the small individual often home-based business. I will be so sad if the day comes when crafters won't be able to sell their toys and child goods anymore. Let's just hope this whole movement can be an effect fro change.

It's just such a shame that it's so expensive for small companies and small farmers to "go green" or "go organic". You'd think our government would be trying to make it easier to do the right thing, not more difficult!

I hope I win the Happy Dough for my boys :)

This stuff sounds great. There are many blogs I read (and on blissfullydomestic.com) that had the link to sign the petition, which I did. As a “Green” mom who likes to buy wooden toys this might adversely affect us. Thank you for the giveaway. My daughter loves play-do!

Elizabeth,

My son has ingested Happy Fun Dough on more than one occasion. ;-) It is COMPLETELY edible (all of the ingredients are ones that you already use to bake/cook with). Yep...I've tasted it, too. I figured if he liked it so much I'd see what all the fuss was about. Even the coloring we use is extra safe. We don't use the food color from the baking aisle (you can do your own scary research on those). We use organic beet root powder, organic annatto seed powder, etc. Now, of course, you don't want to make it a regular part of your balanced diet, but the occasional nibble won't cause you all the worry of some of the other products out there.

I own a small custom knitting business, knitting baby garments and I for sure will be impacted by this act. I've raised awareness in every way I can, and I hope with all my heart something is actually done.

On a side note: I can't stand Play-Doh because my toddler ate some, which let to some unnatural..."episodes" of his digestive tract. We'd love to try something that isn't so damaging.
