Happy Mother’s Day from Shea Terra Organics: Giveaway and Discount

E-MEALZ EASY AND DELICIOUS DINNER RECIPESShea Terra Organics

I have two children, run a business, household and work part-time advocating for early childhood education but after talking to Tammi Umbel the founder and CEO of Shea Terra Organics – I realized I have it easy! Tammi home schools her 11 children and runs her home and business successfully. I’ve enjoyed using my Shea Terra Organics products for the last year but admittedly they’re just about gone – so when I got an email asking for me to review some new products and host a giveaway I had to say yes.

shea-terra-organicsI was reluctant to try the Mama’s Gold Stretch Mark Prevention and Treatment Oil because I thought I had to be “prego” but the word treatment is key. I have stretch marks from my two pregnancies so this treatment oil works great for treating those areas. It has a very pleasant scent and quickly absorbed into my skin. Shea Terra Organics claims to be 100% natural with no chemicals or harmful preservatives. The ingredients are all listed on the back of the bottle for full disclosure and the website describes what each ingredient, herb and oil is. A few key ingredients for the Mama’s Gold Stretch Mark Prevention and Treatment Oil include: shea oil, marula oil, tsamma melon oil, carrot seed oil and pumpkin seed oil.

What I love best about Shea Terra Organics is Tammi’s dedication to making products with raw materials purchased through fair trade practices. Her company donates a portion of the proceeds from each product to self-empowerment projects throughout Africa. One project that I find fascinating is the Ethiopian Goat Project that Shea Terra Organics created. The project provides goats and grains to families which help families provide goat’s milk for the babies and children.

Shea Terra Organics claims to not use any sulfates, parabens, silicone, artificial coloring or synthetic fragrance. The products are all cruelty free. The packaging and material that the products were sent in are all from recycled paper and pulp and the company uses corn starch packing peanuts that dissolve in water and soy ink and recycled paper for promotional material.

In addition to trying the Mama’s Gold Stretch Mark Prevention and Treatment Oil, I was able to lather on my lips the shea terra organicsShea Terra Lip Butter. Oh, my do these feel good on my lips and have helped heal my dry wintery smoochers! My favorite is the Menthe Orange Organic Shea Lip Butter because it tingles in a good way when I put it on and makes my breath smell good. My daughter loves the Shea Propolis Organic Lip Butter with the rich propolis. She smoothers the stuff on day and night, keeping it in her little purse – it’s adorable to see. As a mommy I like that it does not contain parabens or artificial fragrences or colors.

My mothering advice is to use white boards for your to do list and for each of the kids. The boards don’t get lost, they are easily changed and you’re not polluting the environment by using stacks of paper. Thanks GreenMom for bringing us information on a good product from another green mom!

Don’t listen to the people that are telling you you’re doing something wrong or that they would do it this way. Its easier to ignore them than get upset everytime.

One of my favorite quotes is “For after all, the best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.” It’s how I look at life especially with kids!

Trust your instinct- you really do know your child best!

We get way too many gifts for our son on Christmas and birthdays so we put some away and take them out throughout the year so he doesn’t get bored with them all at once! He’s 2 so right now we can do that and he has no idea!

My mothering advise would to always set aside a hour a day to yourself. Being a Mother sometimes you loose yourself and don’t take care of yourself mentally. Read a book, magazine or draw a hot bubble bath.

I would have to say that my favorite piece of mothering advice is if you make a mistake, especially when it comes to something that may impact your child, be honest with him/her. Admit you are only human. I think teaching our kids that we all make mistakes and all is well is truly one of the best lessons we can impart to them. So far this seems to be working well with my 14 yr old. We’ve had our rough times, but have always been able to talk it out and admit when we each made mistakes.

One thing that will save your sanity through many moments is using the mantra, “It’s just a phase,”for most of the first two years. It works for everything: teething, tantrums, the embarrassing things they say in the grocery store.
    It also works for husbands.

One of the neatest studying tricks I developed with my daughter was for spelling. To practice her words, I had her write the word, with her finger, on her arm like they do in the spelling bees sometimes. What a difference that made – I had her spell aloud as she wrote, so her vision, hearing, and tactile were all involved in learning.

It’s important to do your research and make sure you are doing the right thing for your kids. Once you find a better method or realize you’ve been using harful products etc, just do the best going forward and don’t kick yourself for the past. We all just want what’s best for our kids and we can’t over analyze everything or we’ll go crazy!

Remember that you are your kids biggest influence.

I think one tip is to actually PLAN some family time- it’s easy for weekends or days off to turn into errand running- chores here and there or just teatering around. Those are good and fun ;) , but family time can easily slip away without intention.

Ooh, thanks for the giveaway! My advice would be to leave enough time in the day or week for a little spontaneity. It’s great to be organized and on a schedule, but some of the best moments happen when you let that all go and splash in the puddles!

    What an awesome giveaway!

My advice to other moms would be to set aside time in the morning and evening for your child(ren) just to talk, cuddle, or play. Just 15 minutes with them can create a closer bond and makes your child(ren) more content.

One of my favorite pieces of advice is to allow your children to finish saying whatever it is they are talking about even if you already know what they want/need/are saying.

When people give advice, remember you have to do what works for YOUR family.

My mom always told me to never say anything in anger until you give it a minute. SO when you are mad, take a breath and walk away then come back. It works.

Have your kids help you cook meals to combat fussy eaters. The kids always help us cook at mealtimes. Often they eat food at my house that their parents say they won’t eat at home because the kids are excited about eating their creation. If the child is too young to chop things or stir a pot on the stove they can still “help” by deciding what items we should put in the salad, should we had this or that vegtable to the main dish, etc.
