After three years of being a “green” blogger you would think I would remember to do some very simple, basic energy saving things to be eco-friendly but even I forget or lose motivation at times. Even I need a kick in the pants or a fresh start to the day to help me get motivated to complete a green act! So today when I woke up and drank my coffee I checked out thend here is what I was reminded to do:
“. The amount of electricity your computer uses depends on a lot of factors, such as the age, make and model of your hard drive, and the size and style of your monitor. According to one estimate, the average desktop computer can use as much as 250 watts of electricity per hour, compared to the 15-45 watts required by the average laptop.”
Simple and easy to do but but this one act of green sure does add up! The greatest part of keeping track of my green acts and pledging to do things that save me money and reduce my carbon footprint I am able to see the difference I am making and what others are doing! There is nothing like feeling some fire under your feet when you are motivate by your peers! Which is why I love how One Million Acts of Green allows members to to complete acts of green together or to one another to shut off lights, walk to work or compost, for example!
