Scotties Tissue Care Package Giveaway

Scotties Tissue Care Package Giveaway

The school year is almost upon us and that means we’ll all be receiving the “school list”. You know the one where it lists glue, pencils and a million other things. The one that also has a list of needed items for the classroom. This of course always includes tissues because kids have snotty little noses and I know this because I have kids and I was a teacher – they like to pick their noses and wipe the snot on their shirts!

I don’t do well with boogers.

I’ll clean up vomit but show me a green booger and I’ll gag.

So when Scotties tissue offered me a chance to review their tissues and they asked me to try them out by maybe taking some “me” time and watch a chick flick, a good tear jerker –I said yes and yes and yes. For starters, I’ll need tissues to donate to the children’s classrooms this fall and a good tear jerker and “me” time seemed like heaven!

“Sorry honey I have to go watch a movie for work!”

I was hoping the tissues were made from recycled paper but they weren’t. Instead the company believes in responsible forestry and has planted over 800 million trees. Scotties are made from new-wood fibers and for every tree they use, theyScotties Tissues Review plant a new tree. Which I guess, if I’m going to buy a product made from tree products I would want to support a company that a)makes the product in the USA and b)plants trees to replace what they use. I know many companies don’t do this and they aren’t certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. Oh and most companies don’t take the steps to create school programs that teach kids about trees and why they’re important. Read more about the Scotties TREES ROCK program, its impressive!

Now when it comes to the Scotties tissues, for each tree that is used, they plant 3 trees. A bonus and I like to see a company go above and beyond. If you’d rather only use tissues that are made from recycled paper, this might not be the product for you. However, I found that it is good to explore what options are on the market to be aware of what companies and brands are doing. This helps me make educated choices when I’m shopping and if it’s between Scotties tissue and another brand that does nothing for the environment – yup, I’m going with Scotties.

So what do I think of the tissues after trying them out and sobbing while watching My Sister’s Keeper (I love the book more.)? They are soft, very soft but they don’t shred in my hands while I’m blowing my nose a sobbing. No, they held up good which is why I know they’ll be a good fit for my kid’s classrooms and the boogers and sneezing coming this fall!

Thanks Scotties tissue for giving me an excuse to detox through tears and have some quality time alone cuddled up in my bed watching a good movie!

I cannot watch “Terms of Endearment” without crying at the end. It’s just not possible. I have 2 boys and a little girl just like the character played by Debra Winger and it just hits too close to home.
