Second Spring

Time has gotten away from me and my stack of books to review and read for pleasure seems to get taller. I’ve finally gotten around to reading Second Spring and I wish I would have done this much sooner. First, it was an easy read. Second, the information was useful and the book is well earmarked to prove it!

The book is for women of any age who want to learn more about alternative ways to feel better, look better and hold onto their youth without plastic surgery and chemical creams and injections. I’ve been noticing that when I look in the mirror my youth is slipping away. Others that know me will disagree but many times I have looked and the person starring back at me has a new laugh line or wrinkle. I also notice that my knees hurt when I get up off the floor and I joke that I’m getting old but really I’m only 31 so there has to be ways to feel better, take care of the sun and aging spots…right?

Dr. Maoshing Ni gives many simple and easy tips with very basic explanations as to why eating dried plums is good for you or how you can have healthy shiny hair by eating black beans, sesame seeds and walnuts. He attributes a lot to healthy eating and gives some easy to implement solutions for nicer skin, stronger nails and a healthier weight.
Tips for how to raise your breasts, tighten your skin and look younger naturally are found in the book, Second Spring.

I have to tell you, I’m glad I decided to read this book and have already begun using some of the suggestions, such as:

-drinking more water
-replacing white foods with brown foods
-eating more green
-stimulating my thymus
-taking vitamin B
-ditching the Q-Tips

  • Drinking more water is something I always forget to do. I also agree with Kelly on the fat intake. I'm not sure what the book does or does not go into, but eating a healthy amount of health fats should not be overlooked.
  • Hi Sommer,

He forgot the biggest one, though: eating more healthy fats like butter, lard, tallow & coconut oil! Have you ever noticed that those who are on rotten, unnatural low-fat diets have a lot of wrinkles as they age? It's not bad for our heart as we've been led to believe, either.
