St. Baldrick's

This comes just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. You can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day chugging down green beer or getting your head shaved for a good cause. On March 17th 2000 reinsurance executives Tim Kenny, John Bender, and Enda McDonnell decided to host a St. Patrick’s Day party, to benefit kids with cancer. The three hoped to raise $17,000 on the 17th but the benefit was such a hit they ended up raising $104,000.

From then on the benefit blossomed into the St. Baldricks’s foundation which funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any other organization; except the U.S. government. There are several ways to participate.

-You can become a St. Baldrick’s shavee and shave your head in solidarity of kids with cancer while raising money from friends and family.

-If shaving your head is too much you can become a volunteer and recruit shavees, promote the event, and make sure the day is successful.

-You can help bring St. Baldrick’s to your community. Every event is planned by a volunteer event organizer with help from coaches at the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

- You can make a monetary donation and more.

Check out the site and instead of recovering from a hangover you can wake up feeling good.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

    Hi Haley,

Thank you for the inspiring post. This just prove that if your motives are to help others more success happens.

Tim Kenny, John Bender, and Enda McDonnell did not expect much success with their campaign. They just want to help some kids with cancers but have spread and now a nationwide event.
