This quote reminds me of how my grandmother used to talk to me. Always reminding me to believe in myself and have the courage to stand up for what I believe in and what I want in life. It’s easy to doubt ourselves. Talk ourselves out of a good situation simply because we are scared, nervous or there is the fear of the unknown.
I’ve had that fear many times.
I’ve had the courage to overcome that fear.
Shoot for the moon and land amongst the stars, as the saying goes.
Most recently changing careers and the fear of letting go of the comfort zone and soft pillows of degrees, recommendations and lofty resume for a job that was stable and close to home. From early childhood education to social media and marketing for a global corporation in another state – there were no soft pillows of comfort to catch me. The decision was exciting; nail biting, gut wrenching, tearful and above all worthwhile.
It taught me to take chances…
AND have the courage to give myself a chance at something new.
I had self-doubt at first. I wondered if it was a good decision for my family because of the travel. I stayed up all night thinking about it. I made a list of pros and cons. In the end I had to look inside myself and have the courage to go for it because what would grandma tell me to do? Even if I failed, even if it was a mistake I would have had the experience and that makes me a better person.
What have you had to do recently that took courage?
