The sun is shining and it’s going to be above 80 degrees here today and it’s only March. While this weather may not last it’s a great kick start to the topic of outdoor play. I love to be outdoors and so does my family but the reality is our kids are getting out side less and less. CLIF Kid®, the maker of organic snacks for active kids commissioned a Kelton Research nationwide survey of more than 1,000 parents and found that kids are getting eight hours less per week of outdoor playtime than their parents did. Our kids are getting outdoors less even though it’s healthier for them, Why? Play Outdoors posted an article that Kids who play outdoors on a regular basis have stronger immune systems, are more fit, experience reduced stress levels, and have more active and creative imaginations. So lets get them outside!
CLIF Kid knows the importance of a healthy life style and is promoting outdoor play by announcing their 2nd Annual CLIF Kid Backyard Game of the Year contest! This is a great way to jump start your children’s imagination, get them motivated to enjoy the outdoors and have fun as a family. CLIF Kid is asking kids ages 6-12 to submit their ideas for their very own backyard game for a chance to win $10,000, a Marin bicycle and Bell helmet, and a trip to San Francisco. Wow!
