I’m not a milk fan – there I said it. Except I use milk for baking, cooking and if I have warm chocolate chip cookies I have to have me some delicious ice cold milk! My children drink at least two full glasses of milk each day, one with breakfast and one with dinner. For my family I choose organic milk and with the recent European Study supporting the importance of choosing organic – I’m glad I put Horizon Milk Plus DHA Omega-3 into my shopping cart this week!

Why is DHA Omega-3 so important in addition to the organic certification? In a nutshell DHA Omega-3 is a fatty acid that supports brain, eye and heart health. Children unfortunately do not get enough DHA. With 85% of a child’s brain being developed by the time they are 5 years of age, doesn’t it make sense to give your child milk that contains DHA? According to pediatrician Dr. Alan Green,

“Most American kids are not getting the DHA they need. The typical three-year-old needs about 150 mg of DHA a day. On average, they are only getting about 19, mg, a tiny fraction of what they need for optimal brain growth.”

You can learn more about Horizon Milk Plus DHA Omega-3 when you visit their Facebook page or Twitter page. If you think organic milk is more expensive think about your child’s developing mind and then hit the store with this money saving coupon!
