This time of the year there’s cookies, candy canes, hot chocolate and not so “healthy” snacks and treats for the children. Attending a playgroup yesterday with my daughter I discovered a healthy, nutritious do it yourself activity and snack for my children to make and it’s holiday themed, which they enjoy. My daughter has never liked cream cheese and suddenly she loves it because it is part of a reindeer sandwich. Proving that introducing foods in a fun and interesting way will help children try the foods and learn to like them.
What you need:
◊Organic Whole Wheat Bread
◊Natural Peanut Butter or Cream Cheese
◊Organic Red Seedless Grapes
How to make the delicious and nutritious reindeer sandwich:
♦Cut the bread diagonally to make a triangle shape.
♦Cut each slice in half for a large sandwiches or in quarters for small ones.
♦Spread triangle with natural peanut butter or cream cheese.
♦Break pretzels carefully so that the pieces resemble reindeer antlers.
♦With the longest edge begin the top of the reindeer head, stick two pretzels into the bread as antlers.
♦Add raisins for eyes, the grape cut in half for the nose.
