Obesity is a growing epidemic in our country and now it has trickled down to our children. Child obesity is growing at a rapid rate, according to reports unhealthy weight gain due to poor diet and lack of exercise is responsible for over 300,000 deaths each year. At present, approximately nine million children over 6 years of age are considered obese. This is a growing problem that needs attention and support
Due to this growing epidemic ZESPRI has started the Kiwifruit for Kids campaign. ZESPRI Kiwifruit has partnered with six children’s health charities, each representing a region of the United States. The goal is to raise money for charities committed to the cause, to raise awareness about the epidemic and to popularize the healthy diet and lifestyle alternatives available, such as ZESPRI Kiwifruit. The campaign uses a fun Facebook application to donate more than $20k towards ending childhood obesity and teaches kids that eating healthy can be enjoyable.
So how do you play? Visit www.kiwifruitforkids.com to start playing. The uniquely designed Facebook application allows Facebook users to earn points for the region they choose to play for. The region with the most points by October 21st wins $10K for their corresponding charity. To the second place region, ZESPRI donates $5k.
