During Halloween I wrote a post which discussed swapping costumes; now it’s the Holiday season and we must let the swapping continue. The holiday season can be extremely costly and wasteful and we want to help support our readers in turning that around. Children go through phases and stages and that includes toys, so why not swap those gently used toys.
thredUP, a Unites States based online company, is helping us reduce our Holiday waste and save our pocket books. thredUp is offering a toy exchange, which works exactly like their existing clothing swap.
How it works:
Members can browse “Toy Boxes,” and pick one they’d like to receive – paying only $5 plus shipping. That box of toys is sent to their doorstep. On the “send” side, swappers list boxes of their kids gently used toys on thredUP. When another person picks your box you are notified and can send it for free! They will even mail you empty boxes, schedule home-pick & generate the shipping label. thredUP generates the shipping label and schedules home pick-up – facilitating a seamlessly even trade.
Here are some tips from thredUP:
-Start listing Toy Boxes on November 26th. On December 6th, the toy swap will begin!
-Want to make someone’s day? Include tissue paper & a holiday note in your box!
-Be sure to Include toy details in the “notes section.” How many toys? What kind of toys?
-Have toys but want clothes? Everything on thredUP is $5 + shipping, so feel free to mix and match boxes.
-Remember, all boxes exchanged on thredUP must meet the “Golden Thred” rule – send only what you’re willing to receive.
