It seems as though I have someone spying on me lately. Packages of cleaning products keep arriving at my door! I think someone is onto me. My house needs some spring cleaning! The reality is I’m often provided with samples of products to try them out and share them with my readers. I’ve tried a number of products over the years and I’m always looking at the ingredients, cost and effectiveness. The bottom line is the product needs to work if I’m going to pay for it. Naturally, I don’t want to recommend any product that I haven’t tried and thoroughly tested. Which means my house must be sparkling clean, right?

Don’t bet on it!

With Earth Day on Tuesday there’s a big push to help consumers make the switch to Eco-friendly brands and products.  Unfortunately most over the counter household cleaners are loaded with toxic chemicals. The combinations of these ingredients are beyond hazardous to our health and can pose many risks from respiratory irritation, chemical burns and potential long-term effects.  The Organic Consumers Organization has an excellent post about the risks, what to look for and how to read the “eco-claims”.  If you’re wondering about what cleaners are the worse check out this Huffington Post article that gives you the run down and then check under your kitchen sink…you might be surprised!Safeguard Your Home Green Cleaning Kit #Green #SpringCleaning

Making the switch to safer products for house cleaning is an overall wise decision for your health and for the environment, which is why there is so much buzz about it during the month of April.  But what products should you choose and how do you decide what is safe and what will work? That is often times the tough part of making the switch and greening your lifestyle. I have used and continue to use a variety of products as well as making my own but Earth Friendly Products, makers of the number one selling green laundry detergent in the country – ECOS, had a great idea to help you make the switch to safer products. They’ve created a Safeguard your Home kit that comes with dish washing detergent, window cleaner, laundry detergent, dish soap and Eco Breeze for those not so good smells.

Safeguard Your Home Green Cleaning Kit #Green #SpringCleaningEverything in one box for under $35 and guess what? I’ve tried ALL of it out and I love it! I especially love the Parsley Plus All Purpose Cleaner (see the ingredients here)! The stuff leaves my granite counter tops sparkly clean and it smells wonderful!  So if you’re looking to make the switch, this is a great way to start without wondering what products to buy and where to start.
