Cool Off With a Homemade Milk Shake

Homemade Milk Shake Recipes

Last updated:

Where I live in Michigan, hot temperatures aren’t the norm. However, this last week it’s been H-O-T. This means my children want homemade ice pops, ice cream and milk shakes.  I understand how they feel. Everyone wants a cool treat on a hot day.

When my Black + Decker Performance FusionBlade Digital Blender arrived in the mail for review, I was thrilled. It was perfect timing for making homemade milkshakes and smoothies to cool off. It’s such a money saver to make the treats at home. Plus, I get to control the ingredients and portion sizes.

My all-time favorite homemade milk shake recipe is one I remember my great grandma making. It’s simple to make and only takes a matter of minutes.

Easy Homemade Chocolate Milk Shake:

  • 3-4 Cups of Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 2 Tablespoons of Chocolate Syrup
  • 1 Cup of Milk

Blend well and serve cold. If you like your milk shake to be thick, add more ice cream. I like to sip mine with a straw, not eat with spoon.

My children love this simple recipe and it was a breeze to make using my new Black + Decker Performance FusionBlade Digital Blender. I simply needed to press auto and number 5 (smoothie setting) and it automatically blended the milk shake to the perfect consistency.

One of my favorite things about this blender, the digital setting choices – there are five in total. You literally choose one of the five settings, depending on what you’re blending and the blender does the rest. No standing there and pulsing the blender or trying to find the best setting. No guess work with this blender. The five settings are meant for different types of blending from soups to dips and purees. I love it!

Besides loving the digital settings for the new Black + Decker Performance FusionBlade Digital Blender, I’m really digging the following:

  • A quality blender at a reasonable cost! Most blenders that are high quality are way too expensive. For under $100.00 you can buy a great blender and make your own soups, dips, purees and sauces. That’s pretty awesome in my opinion. I found one on Amazon for just over $99.00, which is a steal!
  • The personal size blender, is a must have for smoothies in the morning. Most blenders don’t include the personal size blender and the Black + Decker Performance FusionBlade Digital Blender includes a personal 20 ounce personal jar. I’ve used this for milk shakes too because the children don’t need more than 10 ounces each.

If you’re like me and you’re always cooking, blending and in the kitchen – you’ll love the  Black + Decker Performance FusionBlade Digital Blender!

If you get one, you have to try these other easy homemade milkshakes that I make. There are dozens of other ones on Pinterest too!

The best milk shake is a homemade one.

Homemade Strawberry Milk Shake:

  • 3-4 Cups of Vanilla or Strawberry Ice Cream
  • ½ cup or 4-5 sliced or whole frozen strawberries
  • 1 Cup of milk

Blend well and serve. If you like your milk shake to be thick, add more ice cream. For my husband he likes his very thick, so I add 4 cups of ice cream and more frozen strawberries.

Homemade Vanilla Milk Shake:

  • 3-4 Cups of Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 1 Tablespoon of Vanilla
  • 1 Cup of Milk

Blend well and serve. If you like your milk shake to be thick, add more ice cream.
