I love to cook for my family and have everyone over to drink, eat and be merry. A cliché’ I know but I love it.
If you are planning a holiday meal or dinner party and you love Brussel sprouts, you have to try this recipe. My one sister mostly eats the vegetable dishes I make, which is why I like to have a variety of side dishes I know she will enjoy. This is one that could be a meal; it’s so filling.
Rich & Creamy Baked Brussel Sprouts
Serves: 6-8
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ lbs. Brussel Sprouts halved
- 1 ½ tsp. Garlic
- 2 tbsp. Butter
- ⅛ c. Flour
- 1 c. Half and Half
- 6 oz. Butterkäse cheese shredded
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Place your halved Brussel sprouts into a single layer in a 9 x 13-casserole dish.
- Over medium high heat, melt your butter in a saucepan.
- Once the butter has melted, add in the garlic and stir constantly for 30 seconds.
- Add in the flour and stir or whisk to combine well. Cook over medium high heat for 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in the half-and-half and continue stirring for an additional 1 minute. Add salt to taste.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in ¾ of your shredded cheese. Mix well until the cheese has melted and incorporated completely.
- Pour the cheese sauce mixture over the Brussel sprouts in your casserole dish, and stir lightly to coat them well.
- Top the Brussel sprouts with the remaining shredded cheese and bake for 30 minutes. You can bake a bit longer if you like, depending on your preferred level of doneness for the Brussel sprouts.
