I took a few days to announce the winner of the FuzziBunz Cloth Diaper Giveaway. I really wanted to read over the comments, explore the sites recommended to me and try out some of the useful tips. There were soooo many, thank you. I had my interview with Dori and Val, my BBF’s from More Hip than Hippie yesterday and they asked me about my readers and what I learn from blogging. Listen to the interview here, it’s in the middle of the show but the title mind you is “Sommer Time!” and my name is Sommer, how cool is that? Anyhow, I had to mention cloth diapers and the support, help, encouragement and guidance I get from other moms and dads. This is why I started blogging, to reach others like me who were going green but had questions, needed ideas, help and support. If it weren’t for you, my readers, I wouldn’t have been motivated or inspired to try cloth diapers and stick with it.
So Thank You!
I did try many of the tips and checked out a few forums recommended. The hydrogen peroxide tip for spraying the diapers was a great tip and it works wonderful. The best tip, for me, was the comment from Gidget. This is what she wrote:
Well, I’m not a big fan of cleaning up poopie cloth diapers so my best advice is to use the Kushies Flushable Liners (I buy them through diapers.com for only $7.99/roll- totally worth it!!!). I use them in every diaper since my little one poops slightly sporadically and they make cleaning up A LOT easier. Along these same lines, I hope to get a homemade diaper sprayerinstalled. I don’t want to spend $40 on something that my husband can probably make (just a hose with a sprayer!) for cheaper.
It gets better though because Gidget actually made a homemade diaper sprayer and has created a DIY tutorial on her blog. You have to check this out because this alone deserves some free cloth diapers! Thanks Gidget for your tip and for the extra effort you put forth to create and post a DIY homemade diaper sprayer! I hope you enjoy the FuzziBunz trial cloth diaper set, complements of FuzziBunzi!
Oh my gosh, when I saw the diaper sprayer invention I nearly wanted to weep for all the years I had to wash out poopy cloth diapers with my bare hands. (I’m the second oldest of 9 children and was responsible for wash cloth diapers from the time I was 9 – 14 years old – we lived in South America where disposables were very costly).
Listened to More Hip Than Hippie last night – Go Sommer!!!
Kirstins last blog post..Recycle energey bar wrappers, juice bags and more for a good cause!
What’s the hydrogen peroxide tip?
Thanks Sommer! I’m stoked to have won, and I hope that this spurs lots of homemade diaper sprayers, and less fear of poopie cloth diapers!! 🙂
Gidgets last blog post..Mañana…
Damn, missed out on a good prize here.
Is this thing available in the shop to buy?
p.s juts bookmarked your blog, will come back when I have some more spare time.
My second child is 2 weeks old and I have been considering cloth diapers, especially after I saw on tv that disposables stay in a landfill for at least 300 years! I saw on some morning talk show a whole spot about about earth friendly baby products and cloth diapers was one of the products. The woman showing everything was expecting and said that g baby was the line that she was planning on using, so I think I will look into them some more. so you can also use <a href=” http://www.clothbottom.com“> one size diapers
Thanks for the great info!
Interesting article. Lots of things to know. 🙂
