Each Easter my family colors eggs and we have an Easter egg hunt. It’s something I’ve been doing with my children and something my mom and grandma did with me. We really enjoy the process of decorating the eggs, hiding them and then making a killer organic egg salad. Sometimes we have a big family gathering and all the cousins will get together and it’s a big mess but loads of fun.
This year it was just my children which is okay because the more kids I have the more eggs I have to boil! It’s always a challenge to boil them just right so that they don’t crack and they’ll actually peel easily. I can’t stand peeling eggs for egg salad sandwiches and half the egg comes off with the peel!
Luckily a Facebook friend posted that she made the perfect boiled eggs from boiling to peeling and it inspired me to give her method a whirl. After all, it never hurts to try something new and if it makes my life easier in the long run, why not?
For the PERFECT boiled egg follow these instructions:
- Put the fresh eggs in the pot and then add COLD water and a dash of salt. I just threw some salt in and crossed my fingers.
- Bring the pot to a full boil for only 1 minute.
- Turn the stove off, remove the pot and cover for 12 minutes or until the water is lukewarm.
- Rinse with cold water.
- Refrigerate and eat!
Honestly this worked like a charm and the eggs turned out absolutely perfect and peeled so easily I was amazed. If your dying Easter eggs, making egg salad or deviled eggs anytime soon this is method for boiling your eggs to perfection.
