All you have to do is go to www.energystar.gov/team and join the team. The first thing your child gets is an adorable Team Energy Certificate with a picture of the Lorax and a starter kit that gives you the tools, games and information to get started. The first thing the kit does is help explain the basics of how saving energy help protect the climate and a fun fact like, Did you know that the average home causes twice the greenhouse gas emissions as the average car? By using less energy in our homes, we can reduce the amount of fossil fuels being burned, which means fewer greenhouse gas emissions released into the atmosphere that contribute to climate change. Yeah
Inspire Others
Once you have started saving energy it’s time to share your success story and tell the world how you are becoming the Lorax. All you have to do is submit a written story describing what you are doing to make a difference at home or in your community and submit it with a picture of yourself. Once you or the EPA decides you and your child has become a Lorax a Lorax mustache will be added to your photo and you will be recognized by the EPA. These are just a few of the fun activities involved in joining the team.
Kids will have fun, become educated in energy efficiency, help protect the environment and parents will save money. The typical household spends more than $2,100 per year on energy. With ENERGY STAR you can save over one-third or more on your household energy bill. In 2011 alone, Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved enough energy to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 41 million cars — all while saving $23 billion on their utility bills and reducing the pollution that contributes to heart disease, asthma and allergies. You have nothing to loose and everything to gain by joining.
