National SoupSwap

Last updated:

I love soup. Especially right now when it is cold and snowy! I also love getting together friends and helping to raise funds for local food pantries and agencies in my local area. It feels good to have a blog that is read nationally but can have a local impact. This is why I agreed to work with Cabot Cheese to help raise money for the Manna Food Project and participate in the 5th annual SoupSwap, holding a local gathering at my home –which is what I’ve been up to; party planning and cooking soup! Who doesn’t love some hot soup and yummy cheese?

I can’t wait to tell you all about my local SoupSwap and share with you the recipes using some Cabot cheese products, which I will be giving away to my attendees! What I would love though is for you to hold a local SoupSwap and raise money or collect food items for your local food pantries.  The national event is held January 22nd, so you have plenty of time to invite some friends over, start cooking and swapping!

Here is how it works:

-Everyone brings a boxed or canned food item or money donation for a local food pantry.

-Each person brings 6 quarts of frozen soup, in individual containers with copies of the recipes. I encourage glass or BPA free quart options!

-Everyone draws a number and you take turns picking a new quart of soup! You bring 6 quarts of soup and you get 6 quarts of soup in different varieties for your freezer and family!

For me, I’ll be doing some photo taking, videos, encouraging my guests to post their recipes online right from my house, giving away some Cabot cheese as door prizes and will have some hot soup, cheese and crackers for my guests!

Have you done a SoupSwap before? Are you planning on doing one? I’d love to have to you post your ideas so we can all get creative together!
