Crayon and Marker Recycling and Reusing

Crayons and markers fill landfills each year by the bucket full. I’ve suggested fun ways to recycle crayons, reuse crayons and have fun with markers to make them last longer but what is the Crayola Crayon company doing to be eco-friendly and recycle and reuse their crayons and markers? I have been asking this for a few years now but a group of activist eco-friendly kids have taken it upon themselves to rally others to sign a petition that will urge the Crayola Crayon Company to take action!

Every year, Crayola makes about half a billion markers — enough markers to wrap around the earth more than three times! — And sells them all around the world. Millions of kids use and love Crayola products — including the students at Sun Valley School, where I volunteer. That’s why we’re asking Crayola to make sure these markers don’t end up in our landfills, incinerators and oceans.

“I love your markers, but I’d like to tell you it’s polluting. So can I please send some of your markers back? I love your product, but hate pollution,” Zachary, age 9.

Help these children, the environment and Crayola know that you like their products but want to see less pollution and more recycling of their products!
